I chose to put this in Politics rather than Gay and Lesbian Issues because I believe it has a lot more to do with politics. This poor kid is used as a tool by his gay mom. Sad.

It's just as bad as parents who have their kids hold up political signs at protests.

Yep. I knew you would see it for what it was. I don't mean to stereotype most gay people, but I REALLY wish more of them were like you. I have read several responses from the "typical" gay person, and all of them were pro on this. And I mean beyond reason pro. Ugh.

Well, I'm not really for or against it--maybe just a little bit more against it than for it. Parents generally teach their kids their morals, and politics can fit into that sort of thing. It seems like indoctrination--but where does one draw the line of what is indoctrination? It's so subjective.

sigh. I dunno, it made me uncomfortable watching it.

I think they failed on so many levels.

First of all, it's Michele Bachmann. I just dislike the woman intensely and I think she's bad news all around and nobody should be paying attention to her. I wouldn't put my kid anywhere near her, personally.

Secondly, the kid's shy, and my heart went out to him. It was obviously a very difficult thing to do for him, and he knew it was a Big Deal.

Third, they bailed and let Bachmann bascially kiss them off.

Fourth, what did that accomplish, really? Did they get a cheap shot of Bachmann's surprised expression? Yes. Did they change anyone's minds? I don't think so.

For what it's worth as another gay guy on the forum....

THIS is how you do it. When a Michigan mayor posted on her facebook “I think I am going to throw away my I Love New York carrying bag now that queers can get married there.” , this lesbian mom showed how to change peoples' minds:

Plus, the Michigan accent is charming and reminds me of my family. 8)

That's the way. No ulterior motives for bigots to shoot down. Pure is always the way. Bravo.
