Santorum: No One Has Ever Died Because They Didn’t Have Health Care | The New Civil Rights Movement

Quote:
Santorum also had a tense moment when a student asked him about health care and the Christian responsibility of caring for the poor.

The student said he didn’t “think God appreciates the fact that we have 50 to 100,000 uninsured Americans dying due to a lack of healthcare every year,” citing a 2009 study out of Harvard University.

“Dying?” Santorum answered before going back and forth about the validity of the study.

“The answer is not what can we do to prevent deaths because of a lack of health insurance. There’s — I reject that number completely, that people die in America because of lack of health insurance,” Santorum said to a crowd of 100.

“People die in America because people die in America. And people make poor decisions with respect to their health and their healthcare. And they don’t go to the emergency room or they don’t go to the doctor when they need to,” he said. “And it’s not the fault of the government for not providing some sort of universal benefit.

And yet republicans complain about people that use the emergency room without insurance.

Santorum is living in some other world or something. He isn't just against gay marriage, he thinks gay sex should be illegal as well.

Oh yes, lack of insurance has nothing to do with people NOT seeing doctors...

Insurance companies denying coverage for people who have health problems, sometimes refusing to pay for care and/or insurance companies telling doctors what they can and cannot prescribe doesn't affect anyone. NOPE

we should continue with a model that has eroded healthcare, made the poor poorer and more unhealthy, because it works wonderfully. >.> Oh and yeah poor people just make bad decisions.. Of course, it's not that jobs on the lowest end of the spectrum do not even pay enough for basic needs of shelter, transport, food and utilities >.< it's their poor decisions!

Yeah, he's a real piece of work. He also doesn't believe in contraception or non-procreative sex between married, heterosexual couples.

I just think it's funny as hell that there are people just now learning what Santorum is, and wondering why he didn't change his name!

Quote:
I’m getting letters from people who think the neologism came first — that this is actually what Santorum meant, and that Santorum is burdened with this unfortunate last name. And why didn’t he change his name before he ran for president? Which is pretty hilarious if you think about it … hilarious if you’re not Rick Santorum.

He also believes abortion should be illegal, even in cases of rape.

Santorum wants to impose 'Judeo-Christian Sharia' - CNN.com

Some Santorum quotes:

Quote:
our civil laws have to comport with a higher law: God's law.

Quote:
We have Judeo-Christian values that are based on biblical truth. ... And those truths don't change just because people's attitudes may change
