Now that I can have subforums, I was thinking about doing a little recategorizing to make it easier to find things, but I would very much like your input.

To me, I need more sections--general politics is TOO general, to me, and splitting it up into 2 or 3 subcategories underneath it would be of benefit.

If anyone wants to give any input on this, please do. As I've said many times, I want this to be an enjoyable place for everyone.

Take a look at how my forum is set up. You needn't make a carbon copy, but I tried going with the sub-forum strategy and it didn't work out too well.

Okay--I'll take that into consideration. The main thing I'm worried about is that the "general politics" area has so many posts in it now that it may be hard to find the types of posts people are really looking for.

Maybe I won't split "general politics" into subforums--but I think I do need to split it up. Maybe not. What do you think?

In my experience, less is more. If you can find a way to combine forums that don't get enough use by themselves, say for example by merging the corporate America forum into the general political talk, that might do you better. Also, as I see it you've got two forums designed essentially for flaming or whining. You could merge those two forums, or if you'd rather keep them separate rename one. The Rant forum had some threads geared toward discussing skins and other goodies, so maybe you could transform it into a Tech or Site Design format.

That's a good idea. :)

Today and tomorrow I'm so busy with so many things--I want to make those changes, but it may be a few days.

Another suggestion is that if you think you need to split General Politics, it's better to do it in a separate forum in the same category rather than a subforum. I tried that before, and it didn't work out too well. A lot of forums have forums for breaking news stories, and others have stuff for historical discussion and what have you. But your forum can probably do with just a news discussion forum for now, being that it's still relatively small. It's your call. Bottom line: if you have redundant forums, just merge them into one so that you don't have repetition. A subforum might be good if you want a re-direct link to MySpace or a blog page, or if you have a forum that's less for discussion than for address issues having to do with board mechanics.

By the way, the smilies are kick-ass.

The mods I have installed allow for that. Normally v2 doesn't allow for that.

Ya gotta know the right people. ;)

Check out the itty-bitty, teeny-tiny center link at the very bottom of the page in the copyright section of this forum....
