This guy seems to know what he's talking about--he has been right for a while. I wonder if he'll continue to be right.

I watched the first video so far. Celente's predictions can sometimes be pretty scary, but what he said in the first one wasn't too bad. I am not sure what he meant by the "crash of 2010", unless he is talking about the stock market. Some economists are predicting a double dip recession. Others, like Marc Faber, are predicting hyperinflation but not until 5-10 years. I like the part where Celente said to buy American made products if possible, and not surprising that he mentioned gold.

Yeah, my dad was saying a year to a year and a half ago that this thing is far from getting better. He listens to some of those economists that think this way. I just didn't want to believe him because it didn't benefit me, but I think I kind of always subscribed to this type of thinking.

I watched the last video, more talk about the crash of 2010. Maybe he means once the stimulus runs out and the government is no longer propping up the economy, things will get much worse, which is a reasonable assumption. The federal reserve can always print money for awhile, like they have done in the past, but that will not solve the problem either. It appears the second video has been removed.

Sounds like "Glenn Beck" gloom and doom, something I've seemed to feel is more warranted than some of those around me.

I don't know that much about Glenn Beck only what I have seen on YouTube. But one of my favorite economists is Marc Faber, who writes an investment newsletter called The Gloom, Boom, & Doom Report. He even has the nickname "Dr. Doom". lol Personally, I like the ones who adhere to Austrian economics (like Ron Paul and others) because I believe they are more realistic. For example, they are against our Federal Reserve creating all this new money out of thin air and our government indefinitely running huge budget deficits. About Cenlente, I found this on his Trends Research Institute website:

link

Quote:
Political Atheist — Gerald Celente is a political atheist. Unencumbered by political dogma, rigid ideology or conventional wisdom, Celente, whose motto is "think for yourself," observes and analyzes the current events forming future trends for what they are – not for the way he wants them to be.

Like a doctor giving a diagnosis after gathering the facts, whether or not you like the prognosis doesn’t alter the outcome, make him an optimist or pessimist – it’s simply what is. And while Celente holds a US passport, he considers himself a citizen of the world.
